About Chris Bonelli

Christopher Bonelli’s one way migration from NY to Nantucket Island occurred over 25 years ago after earning a BFA with a concentration in print making. Bonelli is an avid fly fisherman, falconer, conservationist and artist. Bonelli thrives on Nantucket finding inspiration everywhere.

Bonelli has been exploring the world of Gyotaku for over two decades. Gyotaku is a traditional form of Japanese fish printing or rubbing, dating from the mid-19th century. Intuitively he has developed a new way to appreciate this form of nature printing. Bonelli offers us a fresh, contemporary look encouraging the conventional world of Gyotaku to be progressive with the times. Bonelli distinguishes himself with his playful use of color, style and witty phrases.“ My goal is to enhance the images by putting emphasis on the negative space and abstract shapes that occur naturally." Scrutinizing all the intricate details, one can lose themselves in the beauty of the creation.
